LONDON, Jan 7 (Reuters) – Strikes deliberate by rail union RMT members working for London Underground from Monday to Thursday have been suspended after the union stated it had made “progress” in talks with operator Transport for London (TfL).
“Following additional optimistic discussions at the moment, the negotiations on a pay deal for our London Underground members can now happen on an improved foundation and mandate with vital additional funding for a settlement being made accessible,” RMT common secretary Mick Lynch stated in an announcement on Sunday.
“This considerably improved funding place means the scheduled strike motion will probably be suspended with fast impact and we look ahead to moving into pressing negotiations with TfL so as to develop an acceptable settlement and determination to the dispute.” (Reporting by Elizabeth Piper Modifying by Frances Kerry)
