Russia allocates one other $1.23 bln to firm shopping for planes from Western lessors

Jan 17 (Reuters) – Russia has allotted an extra 107.7 billion roubles ($1.23 billion) from its wet day fund to a state firm that has been buying plane from overseas lessors, the finance ministry mentioned on Wednesday.

The ministry mentioned it had bought bonds of NLK-Finance, a subsidiary of state-owned insurance coverage firm NSK, bringing the entire quantity spent on NLK-Finance bonds to 296.8 billion roubles ($3.38 billion).

After the West imposed sanctions on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Moscow re-registered plane leased from Western corporations after which began negotiations to purchase them out. A lot of the planes have been manufactured by Boeing and Airbus.

Russia has already settled insurance coverage claims with Western lessors together with AerCap, for over 100 planes, utilizing cash from the wet day fund and transferring possession of the planes to NSK.
