Yellen: U.S. banking system stays sound

WASHINGTON, April 20 (Reuters) – The U.S. banking system stays sound and the U.S. authorities will take “any mandatory steps” to maintain it the strongest and most secure monetary system on the earth, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen mentioned on Thursday.

Yellen mentioned decisive U.S. actions taken after the failure of two regional banks had shored up the monetary system.

“The U.S. banking system stays sound and we are going to take any mandatory steps to make sure the USA continues to have the strongest and most secure monetary system on the earth,” Yellen mentioned in a speech on the Johns Hopkins College’s College of Superior Worldwide Research.
